Assessing the English Speaking Self-Efficacy of Translation-Major Undergraduates: A Current Perspective

Self-efficacy is a vital determinant of students’ future accomplishments or setbacks and has been recognized as significant influencer their motivation to learn, intimately linked with academic achievement. Nonetheless, English learners often grapple lack self-efficacy in speaking skills. In order investigate the current state undergraduate translation self-efficacy, quantitative research design, coupled survey strategy, was employed. This investigation involved data gathered from 163 students across three universities located Guangxi, China. The findings reveal that translation-major undergraduates possess moderate level self-efficacy. Intriguingly, there were no noticeable differences its dimensions based on year, indicating consistency different levels. gender-based comparison also yielded interesting results. There disparity between male female students. However, when it came self-regulated self-efficacy—a crucial aspect autonomous learning—female significantly outperformed counterparts.
